I thought default would mean 'reset to default' but maybe it's meant 'set as default'. Anyway this is how I got it working. . Ill likely experiment later with wireless x360 & Xbox One controllers to see if that fixes the problem. But it seems odd that the wired x360 controller doesn't "just work" by default.
